The easiest way to stage an exhibition is when it happens in your studio. You can just pin drawings on the walls, arrange things on a shelf or sketchbooks in a glass case, or redecorate the whole space as a Gesamtkunstwerk. You seldom get as much direct feedback on your art, and you can invite everyone you know, and some of them bring cake! I thoroughly recommend it.

Then again, there's something to be said for having an exhibition in a "white cube" (more or less); have a festive opening, and someone to do the catering for you:
